The Church of God Ministry
Weston, FL
In 1972, The Church of God Ministry of Jesus Christ originated in Colombia. Since then, this neo-Pentecostal movement has spread through more than 45 nations, claiming millions of followers. With headquarters in Bogota, Colombia, Madrid, Spain, and Miami, the church often purchases large properties - such as this three-acre site with an existing building - to serve hundreds of congregants and offer semi-annual baptisms. SRS' new Mediterranean-style structure complements the existing church and comprises a 6,000 SF sanctuary with double-volume ceilings; a complex panel-covered baptistery pool with ramps and walkways to locker rooms for changing; a giant multi-screen TV wall; administration areas; and social hall. Extreme “wet” challenges include safeguarding communications, electrical, and water systems inside the building; and conservation and soil preservation on the site, close to the Everglades.
