The Center for Active Aging is positioned for expanded programming inclusive of social services, care and case management, mental and physical fitness, creative pursuits, and social engagement. The emerging facility will deliver county-wide outreach, transportation ease and approachability, and unity of purpose to the greater community.
Transformed, the new environment emanates a fresh surge of vitality and a stately and appealing sense of place, replacing a ramshackle scattering of outworn outbuildings on its 3.9-acre campus. With a roofed porte cochere entry, 100-plus parking spaces for cars and buses, and tropical landscaping, the one-story, 19,979 SF hub features a reception lobby, administrative and counseling spaces, fitness and health area, class and group meeting rooms, conference and board room, storage and supply quarters, warming kitchen and casual dining café, restrooms, and multipurpose rooms. Mixed construction media include brick, stucco, heavy timber, decorative metal, and sun-catching skylights.
Programming services include recreation activities, counseling and support groups, health-related lectures and screenings, emergency medical equipment, physical fitness apparatus and activities, library and computer services, nutritional counseling, and referral information for social services.
A repurposed site plan also includes the adjacent 4,874 SF Bezos Academy, offering a child minding facility with daycare and pre-K programs, as well as a fenced outdoor playground.
