Dogs Are Family Too!

Shelter comes in all forms—not just bricks and mortar—and can't be taken for granted in times of crisis and catastrophe. Recognizing the need to provide shelter for pets, as much a part of the family unit as each threatened mother and child, Women in Distress turned to SRS for a solution. Women in Distress is the only nationally accredited, state-certified, full-service domestic violence center in Broward County that ensures safety for vulnerable and abused families at risk. To help care for family pets, SRS designed a pet-friendly yard enclosure with a variety of structures including shelters offered by FORTS, a Broward-based company specializing in innovative folding technology used for disaster relief encampments, military barracks, and outdoor events.
