Miramar Pineland Park
Miramar, FL
Miramar Pineland Park was planned to preserve an undisturbed native landscape at University Drive near Florida Turnpike's Homestead Extension. The $2.9 million project includes an indigenous slash pine forest, two distinct vegetative areas, prairie, and restored wetlands. The park has been designed to accommodate the controlled burns that occur in nature, which provide for recurring seasonal growth of native vegetation. Visitors can now enjoy dedicated walkways and trails through the forest, and cross over elevated boardwalks through wetland areas. The park also offers an expansive covered playground; the County's first public interactive children's water play Splash Pad; three rental shelters for picnics, parties, and barbecues; and restrooms and an entrance gatehouse.
