Chabad Center of Kendall and Pinecrest

Kendall, FL

Located in the heart of Kendall at Killian Drive and Galloway Road, the Chabad Center of Kendall and Pinecrest was founded in 1995 to serve the needs of a small, but growing congregation. Starting with rented storefront space, the Chabad eventually purchased and renovated a 3,900 SF home in a residential community some five years later. As the congregation grew, the Chabad continued to expand services and fill needs. An adjacent property was purchased to accommodate an enlarged preschool and Friendship Circle program for mainstream and challenged children. With new zoning approval for the 2.26-acre site, SRS connects the Sanctuary and additional pre-school quarters with shaded, arcaded walkways and reprograms interior spaces. The clean, contemporary exterior is peppered with "eyebrow" canopies framing each window, to create an interplay of light, shade, and shadow. Distinctive architectural elements include columns topped by decorative scroll-like reliefs. A courtyard entry, encircling tree-lined perimeter, discreet traffic access, and expanded carpark complete the plan.
