Holocaust Documentation and Education Center

Dania Beach, FL

Honoring Florida's Holocaust survivor population, the second largest in the U.S., hundreds of families, individuals, and dozens of organizations and community leaders came together in 2004 to begin the process of creating the Holocaust Documentation and Education Center and Museum of South Florida. In January 2016, the dream was closer to actualization as interior construction work began at a cavernous 26,000 SF warehouse purchased in Dania Beach. The proposed $11 million facility exhibits a boxcar used for transportation of Jews in Poland to concentration camps, and a Sherman tank donated and used by the U.S. to liberate camp prisoners. Phase Two will encompass museum galleries, library, and amphitheater. The Center's collection includes archives, artifacts, electronic displays, documents, photographs, and videotaped oral histories. SRS is the designated architect overseeing space planning, interior design, and construction administration, and has arranged the contribution of office furniture from long-time business associate, JC White Architectural Interior Products.
